Uthgard launched as the dol test server, as such it was unstable. A contributing factor was the testing of the new unstable code.

It took a long time for Uthgard to become stable and rewarding as a server, I'm sure Blue spent a lot of time fixing up the code and is one of the reasons I imagine they no longer have a compatible codebase to us.

I guess you're asking because you want to compare it to Origin's current performance. I don't think Uthgard had anywhere near 1.3k players at launch though, from what I remember it took them a few years to get a decent amount of players.

On this topic I have to believe origins count is off by about 300. Dol goes from 600 players in off time to 1200 in off time? The only way I'd believe it, is if it is because of 1.14 support.

They have a patcher and patch deliver system to make the process of patching the client painless. I have no reason to doubt their numbers.

Population of both Eden and Uthgard dropped at the same time.

Oops. I did not see that. I need to research next time. Disregard what I said previously. Why doesn't daoc portal have that?

i have been playing on Origins several times now and you can believe me, their numbers are no fake. Towns are crowded by people and groups running by. Origin feels like the good old days again.

It took me an hour to get past the CAPTCHA. But once in the game. It is the closest thing I've ever seen to a real classic live type server. Amazing. That being said, dol has spoiled me with adjustable xp rates and I'd go insane trying to play that low of xp rate haha. But for getting that old daoc fix, it totally works. Seeing Cotswold full of level 1-5 groups brings it all back to that place we had years ago.
