Hello,

Since Ryan left, now my turn to take care of DoL.
As you can guess now, the forums are now on a new server - thisis a good start point !

This 'll help the DoL - Portal to DAoC emulation to be present for long time.

Here are my reflexion on Dol's future !

a) state:
- dol is roughly playable. DAoC basics (rvr, pve) are in, and all classes are existing. Mythic reduces the work on DAoC, and the emulator is slowly running to stable players. in the future, i think there is enough ppl for 5/10 servers. We are not on a rising phase, and we must keep this is mind, but we can gather dozens of players enough interested with daoc.

b) objectives:
- first is to keep dol project alive (we are not in an conception phase, i dont really want to base our work on rewriting existing features if not needed or for an hypothetical performance gain), then
- update and upgrade dol to follow mythic core issues (this is mainly features, not really focusing on db work)
- keep the community gathered under the dol banner (portal)
- raisin efforts on tools ! they are often forgotten and can provide a different coding experience and motivation.

c) means:
- pushing Storm up work will be intimately linked to storm, our deployment platform and the visible part of dol
- fidelize newcomers developper & db contributer - as i think Storm is important -
- the long time follower to advice me. I would like they act as a "knowledge base", in numerous cases missing things are already developped.
- long time server to exchange ideas and code, also, in numerous cases missing things are already developped

As you can guess, i think the dol core is now in a bugfixing phase, which is allowing different types of devs, but a better integration/check on their works. This is why i'll put my efforts on the integration and help to the new contributers, and they can see their work on Storm (if reliable etc...)

"regular code fixes -> regular Storm update -> increasing player base -> increased contributers -> regular code fixes"

I invite every - even "little contributer" - to pm me !
I hope a lot will help our team to push this project up !

Grats Graveen! Good to see you're up for the tasks at hand and know where you want to steer this boat towards a long and prosperous future :) I've been playing on the Eden server myself the passed few days and it's possibly sparking my interest to get involved again.
