Can I make a Vanilla server?

Postby TheGofa » Fri Jun 08, 2018 12:06 am

Hi again,

Sorry if these questions appear dumb but im not really very knowledgeable in these things and searching didnt help..

I managed to get the server working (v 1.9.6 r3061) and all seems great, but its got expansions etc in it and a lot of newer stuff I dont really like much. Is there a way to have just the Vanilla game and maybe just the Shrouded Isles expansion?

Again, sorry if im asking silly things but I really need help here.

Thanks in advance,
TG.

Hi Nachtmahr,

I read all of that page and its super helpful but I couldnt see anything about configuring the server to be Vanilla or just Shrouded Isles by changing something or adding a command.

Sorry if ive missed something here, my server runs and I connect perfectly but its too "new" and I would prefer vanilla or SI gameplay as thats what I really like the best.

Many thanks for all your time and help,
TG

basically the database you use will decide whether you are 'vanilla' or ToA + etc. In server settings in the DB, you can disable certain classes /races , expansions, but things like skills and abilities will still be relatively current to live DAoC ( if you use the public db )
So you would have to put in all the 'vanilla' values in the database yourself , or find a database that has vanilla values already, none publicly available that i know of

Darn, I really dont like the way you spawn in. I liked it when you spawned in at Mularn or Campacorentin or Ardee.

The new tutorial area is confusing and starting straight as your class and not the pre-requisites is not as good as making choices to build as you start, and even change before selecting your class altogether (ive chosen berserker when I thought I wanted Warrior).

If I cant go back to Vanilla or SI, can I make it that the Tutorial area isnt there and we spawn in our normal areas?
Sorry I keep asking stuff but I just wouldnt have a clue myself and who better to ask than you gurus!!!

Any help in getting back to something earlier (even if its with skills/abilities that are newer) even if its just the zones.
Thanks again, for all your efforts guys, really want to relive my past in this amazing game.

yes these are some options you can change in the database (tutorial zone, starting as base class or not) . I suggest you install mariaDB as shown in the install tuturial linked earlier, and then these options can be done in heidiSQl. Startup locations can all be changed from within the database

i also recommend joining the discord channel, as you may be able to get more help from others there ( who have trouble with forums)
