Win7 64x Cant Find game dll

Postby duante » Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:26 pm

So I have attached a screen shot of the configuration. It seems pretty straight forward and plug and play. Running as admin doesnt matter. I just downloaded this client from DAOC today and it is fully updated. I've read many post and still havent figure out what issue could be. It cant find camelot.exe or game.dll which you can see are plain as day in the screenshot. I even modified the directory permissions to give full access to "Everybody" and that didnt work either. Doesnt seem to be a permissions things.

Gosh, never had this question before. Have you tried running as admin? Are you pointed to the correct directory? etc. etc.

See that giant search box at the top of the page? Try putting game.dll in it and hitting search.

just to be sure ... did you run the camelot.exe even once to download the client ... and not only the patch files from darkageofcamelot.com ?? ^^
I will not solve your problems for you ... I will just give you a way to find a solution

yup... tried all of those. as you can see in the screenshot game.dll is right there... and camelot.exe. The game is fully updated. I even tried to roll back to another version per other peoples issues. Also tried running as admin makes no difference.

There is something wrong with your client. I use Windows 7 64bit myself and it works fine. Like Tola said make sure you run the portal with admin permissions. I don't know exactly whats wrong about your client but there is. You can tell because on the portal in the image of your portal settings you posted, under client info it says "Invalid". When I checked what mine says in that same spot in the settings, it says "US LABYRINTH". So the portal is having a hard time detecting what client you have, that tells me you have something wrong with your client. Where and how exactly did you obtain and patch the client you have? Is it EU or US? Is it Labyrinth? Your client's installation path also seems odd. Your path is "D:\Games\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot\" and my path says "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Labyrinth". So something is very different about your client and I'm guessing that is the problem.

Yeah, I wasn't saying necessarily that the path was the problem, just pointing out that it's different then what I had, supporting my theory that it's something to do with his client.

Why the " " around the path?

i recently had this problem and i found that a relative pass is possible. Its strange but if u use .\game.dll without quotes it loads just fine. strange that a backslash works over the forward slash bt however :)

Hello all!
I've got the same or a similar problem as well. I installed the game by a disc from my brother. its the collection 5th aniversary with the latest LotM expansion included. I've also got a daocportal client however this client is unable to find the original daoc client! ill pass you a scrrenshot later on. Just for your info I can't patch the original daoc client so I'm afraid the game client has got a problem but I just can't figure out which. on my old pc it was working very well. problems occured on this one (using win7) and on my GF's pc (with vista).
Please help me with this issue!
thank you in advance!
greetings

if you're having the problem where "the directory path is invalid"; something along those lines, run DAoC Portal as admin

on my pc (64 bit), had to open DAoC Portal in troubleshoot compatibility mode, look for the check box for "the program requires additional permissions", save changes, start DAoC Portal, problem should be solved

potential additional setting, go to start, type "msconfig", depending on your OS you'll either turn off UAC, or lower the bar setting by 1 notch <2nd from bottom>

█--█--[]--█

after doing that, you'll have to downgrade your game.dll still

I am having an issue getting daoc portal to finish its updates. i have just done a new install of both portal and DAOC and when the box comes up to do the auto updates it gets about half way done then i get the error DAOC portal updater has stopped working, then it closes down if i try and reopen the portal i get a different error that portal.exe is not a valid win 32 application. Any ideas? i currently am running windows 7 enterprise 64bit i have turned off UAC and all fire walls, and i am running it as admin.

Thanks
