Buffbots

Postby Amagra » Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:30 am

hi there..
im just wondering, if there is smth gonna be done about buffbots here. the reason i'm asking is, that ppl, who can log a 2nd acc with a buffbot have a real high advantage in rvr against ppl who can't.. so there will be a buffbot-npc or ranged buffs in next time?

Yep, we plan to offer a realm buffer so you can some buffs. It's on the list, hang in there.

and what about the buffs, they*ll have? depending on realm with bases, speccs and haste for hib, and for alb specc-af instead of haste, or will they have all possible speccbuffs?

They will have the second to best buffs (yellow) appropriate for the realm you're in. True player buff bots will still be better.

I am against a npc buffbot, I think it will be better if we can make like classic servers:

- All concentration buffs have a range limit of 5000 units and will be available only to the buffer and his groupmates. Anyone outside of the group cannot receive concentration buffs. The range limit also applies to player pets.

Bye.

I understand but a lot of solo players like to use them, so rather than disallow we will add an option for people who do not run dual accounts to be able to stay competitive.

If anyone else would like to leave an opinion your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

so far i like this server a lot... the buffbots with no range is nice...

being able to duel log or having 2 comps is and advantage outside of the game.. if u have a slow comp and u lag .. how should that be my problem .. or the servers responsibility to fix it...

buffbots are very important... and also help the server population count on the list...

the realm buffer is a great idea so people arent completely gimped
i prefer this server because its closest to live ...

... but for now i would love the common known bug issues to be fixed , more so then adding new content...
primarily heal aggro bug =)

p.s since theres no horses .. can u just allow portal masters to give u options to every major town or dungeon please :

if bbs would be forbidden, there will be just 60-80% off the accounts are logged in on the server all the time. new players decide to join a server because of high playerrates in daoc portal

yes this is a fact.

this is why we plan, as Tolakram said, to provide a way for the players who did not have a bb to be competitive.

I have to side with the "classic" buffbot style, at least in RvR zones.

A realm buff NPC isn't a bad idea, per se, it's just that some classes depend on buffs to be competitive(Main example: Friars).

When the enemy is buffed, a Friar is at a huge disadvantage when compared to other classes. Friars have str as a rising stat instead of dex, so therefore Mythic gave them a self Dex/Qui buff to fix the problem and give them Dex like it was their primary stat. This became a problem, however, when buffbots became popular.

If we do implement realm buff NPCs, we need to give some kind of stat boost to the classes like Friars, Wardens, etc, so they still have a shot at winning in a 1v1 battle.

First of all game balance isnt about 1vs1...

I have played a friar for ages and they sure have a shot at winning 1vs1, esp after the new patches, with all the healing and additional specpoints ... In my eyes a friar isnt not that much of an easy target anymore... giving them a stat boost will result in everybody playing Friars, wardens and vamps :P There are tons of Friars ingame every moment of the day, fotm imho :P

ow and somebody said something about not having horses ingame, Dont know which server you play on... but Storm sure has horsies :P Both npc horses as player controlled.

i 'm really PRO (and i think it is an important part of the success of Storm) to choose enhancement carefully and to follow mythic's ones.

I agree that the game isnt balanced around 1v1 for everyone, but some classes it is, while for others it should be.

Taking my example of the Friar, why run a Friar in an Alb 8man group? Make sure you put your answer in the context of Storm.

A sample Alb caster group is:
Cleric
Cleric
Sorcerer
Theurgist
Cabalist
Paladin
Minstrel/Cabalist/Theurgist

A sample Alb tank group is:
Cleric
Cleric
Paladin
Armsman
Mercenary
Theurgist
Sorcerer
Minstrel

There is no room to put a Friar in Alb 8mans at all. Friars are only good at zerg surfing then, as a buffed heavy tank, caster, and assassins will completely destroy a Friar in a 1v1 contest. My fiancee played a Friar in a 5man when I played on Merlin, where we ran people instead of classes. That was about the only RvR group she could get, and she had to spec 34 rejuv when Friars had 1.5x spec points to be viable in that type of group.

I currently just use my friar to PL folks as chain pulling reds and lower purples make for some quick exp. Seems friars aren't much of a needed class in rvr any more in alb. I am thinking there are just too many friars ruing around. I rolled a cleric for RVR because the majority of clerics I see are buff bots. Personally I don't have the computer capable of running multi-accounts so buff bots are not an option for me. Though it would be nice to have a realm buffer to use when I jump on my scout and run with other stealthers and no clerics or buff bots are around. Having some buffs, even if mediocre, might make it a bit more appealing to try to play some classes that needs at least some types buffs to survive.

just my opinion

That has always been the problem with Albion, too many classes with all the skills disbursed. It is a choice you have to make, other realms don't have that problem fortunately.
