SF Migration: Please Take Note

Postby IStandAloneToo » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:28 am

Source forge is under going a migration/upgrade stage. We will be migrating to a new datacenter (storage) some place in Chicago and our project SVN will be read only at that point. Please note that no updates from the team will be available at that time.

It looks like they may be updating their web shell/services which shall be nice as their current website is terrible. That's my hope anyways.

Assembla > Sourceforge from personal experience :D

But I prefer SF's attitude in general on the subject.

Easy to decide between SF and competitors. Who is the largest and has the possibility of getting DOL exposure? That's such a stupid question I don't need to answer it.

Assembla does give a better quality of service though - sourceforge can be very slow at times. Still, as I said, I prefer sourceforge's less commercial attitude, they have a more liberal open source approach.

Why not host on both, but just utilize SF? Or something.

Managing two SVNs? Nightmare city in my opinion.

yeah but it does irritate me when in the past I've been refused access to my svn for a few hours :!:

Hopefully they've got better since then, as I said I prefer them just on the whole values.
