I don't think that you people get what i am trying to tell you! i just hate it that people making a emulator keep files away from public and for other players!

yes, i understand. Unfortunatly, this is not the choice for now.

You can simply fork the project (it's open source) to federate a good community of people having your opinion to create an open database.

I hope you 'll get many contributers ! The angry guys could show the manpower they could with an adapted structure.

FYI i agree you can use public database as a solid basic since i review it 6 months ago and it is valuable in spells/styles area.

Good luck !

This comes up all the time. As far as I'm concerned, I just dont have the time any more to DB anything. For me, to populate a zone or do path points takes about 3 times the time to fix several code issues, and so thats why if i do anything these days its code.

I have no issues with sharing the DBs we currently share, no with if we did share Storm's db - but Storm is, as I say, while very close to DoL, not exactly the same thing. It's not up to me or graveen to decide whether we can distribute other peoples work aswell.

I'd love to see the DB team return to DoL, as currently we dont really have one on the scale it used to be. Incidently, the last team worked hard to release a DB, and got spat at because it didnt meet the expectations of a very rude bunch of people, and that caused them to give up. Irrespective of their best efforts, people were selfish and failed to appreciate the work they had done. If you wish to head a DB team yourself though, I would gladly offer my support on any code issues that cropped up or questions or research, because I would like to see one again.

Glitch: Can you open a new thread in Support for your problem? It's not really relevant to this topic. I'll see you in support and I'll see what I can do to sort it out.

I got told I shouldn't post my opinion on here by Dinberg, or I'd be moderated :( That's mean.. No respect.

kk

I would love to start a db team the problem is i can't script or code or do that kind of stuff worth a ... I thank you people too that you do this work but I feel that some stuff is kept away from public which the project actually doesn't want or? the project is to make an exact copy of DAoC Server for erveryone to make one and enjoy it in their way or am i wrong :) ? but still can't wait till you update the db and server for public and I wait :)

one question though @ 2 up before my post ^^ you say it isn't up to you or graveen to release someone others work, but don't they give it to you people that the server and db works better and contribute to the project and can be released? or do they just give it to you to make one server that is locked up so that public doesn't get to it?

they can choose, i tell them they can post on the userfile or put on Storm only.

But until now, all the contribs have been made public by the authors when they released it and integrated in the public db.

Some of the people who donate resources to the server are players of the server. It usually has low population, and in the past we have had our players try and implement features for the DB, like items, in the hope of improving the gaming experience there and getting more people to play it. Sometimes they want to keep it only Storm, because if they release their work it means every server gets it and there's no benefit to playing Storm, hence their aim is defeated.

But the public db contains much of Storm, the features do usually leak over, its just it takes time to sort out what the public DB has and what it needs.

I dont think we currently have the manpower to re-merge Storm and the public DB - but if you think you could help, speak to Graveen about joining the db team ;)

Since a short while i am giving a hand to work on the DB, even when its only a small hand. First of all i wanna say i am most thankfull for whoever has worked on DB 1.9.3xx, it is a wonderful DB to start with. Sure there are a lot of things missing but here begins the part where everyone can involve an suit the db to his needs. with a bit of time a day (1 to 2 hours) people can customize the db to whatever they need. me for my part, i am working on populating and itemizing the little instances on my privat DB. It is great to see how it grows and gets better anytime i log on to check my done work. I admit that this is not for everyone, some people just like to log on and play but people if you are of this kind then don`t moan and be happy with what you got. if i feel i got a major step done on my priv db, i am more than willing to extract and contribute it. if you people want a livelike server to play on, well try storm cause it gets better any time. Just remember this... the less people contribute the longer it will take to fill your needs. I hope i could state my opinion here cause english is not really my native language.
kind regards
Argoras
