Some questions about Game Server Setup / and DAoC

I have the DOL server setup on a LAN. Using one computer to host Login and Gamserver.
It get to the window that shows the server. But when i try to login it does not connect.
The Gamer Server Window says:
Packet recieved: 0x48ec
Dark Age it self keeps retrying and finally says the it cannot connect to the service.
I have all the IP's and ports correct or i dont think it would even recieve the packet on the Game Server.
Should i have updated DAoC to the latest version from Mythic before i tried to use DOL?
Seems Dark Age is not recieving anything from the game server, to say "hey!! I'm here!!"
Anyone know how to fix?
thanks in advance

what client version are you using. If it's 1.6* it should be ok.

I am using DOL 1.2b
Dark Age version is the initail release install from 2001.
I think that may be my problem. I am going to try to update to the current version from Mythic.
post my results in a few days.

The packet transfer got changed in 1.60 and in 1.61 We have the new packet goodies... so you NEED to have the updated version.
WOOHOOO!!

Ok updated and i can log in and run around.
I cant seem to zone into Camelot. I assume this is just because the emulator is in beta stages.
It looks great though.
What can i do to help with developement. I am not much of a programmer because my specialty is in electrical and computer engineering.

Everything goes well until I login to the game server...it connects the stream and datagram sockets and stuff....then nothing. The server does some ping stuff with the client...packet 0x0b or something...Cor said it was pings....I'm running the latest client, so its not that...I'm on WinXP Pro...anyone else have this problem? Anyone know of any solution?

Have you tried to create a new account and try to log in that way?
Yeah...I did that

I get through both the patch and login servers with no problem. It's when I get to the game server where I have the problem. The client just sits there...waiting or something. On the game server screen, it says it received packet 0x0b...over and over again. I tried running the client in a .bat file, which bypasses the patch and login server, but even that doesn't work. I know my account was created, because it shows up in the list of clients online in the game server output screen.

I intentionally logged in with a wrong password just to see what would happen. It refused access...so that's good...the client retried a few times (it said so..."Retrying..." message on the client screen). So the problem I'm having is after password authentication more than likely....mabey the char-select or char-create server->client message is weird or something.

I had this problem as well, then I read somewhere that the login server had to be started before the game server so the game server could "bind" to the login server. Not sure if you checked this or not, but it might be something to check. The problem you describe matches what happened to me when I didn't follow the instructions.
Yeah I've done that too...
