heh agreed google is a good resource.. but i wanna point out that forwarding ports isnt an every-day use kind of thing, and if ur posting in support forum.. give a link or something, or some sort of description.. don't say "u shouldn't run a server if u dont know how to forward ports"... or to only say use google.. be a little specific or don't post in the support forum. either ask a question or be helpful. its called support forum for a reason.

Type this in your browser (in a new tab or window) so u can see this still.

1) type into the address bar " 192.168.1.1 " hit Enter. (No Quotes)
2) an authorization window will pop up - this will be your Router username/Password
Screen Shot: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1zf0roy&s=6

Default authorization is:
Username: admin
Password: admin

3) Click on the Applications and Gaming section (may be different depending on your router)
4) Add these entries into the form below!
Application = DOL1 - Start = 10300 - End = 10300 - Protocol = Both - IP Address is your computers Local IP Address.
Application = DOL2 - Start = 10400 - End = 10400 - Protocol = Both - IP Address is your computers Local IP Address.

Example of Local IP Address: 192.168.1.100

Click Save - and you should be good.

Good explanation :) But I don't like simply feeding people the answers sometimes. Support doesn't mean "give the answer." I was trying to give them a hint, then they could figure it from there. But still, you are very generous Stephen, and that is not to be overlooked :)

i know Dec :) just i remember i had this problem before, and tried google - found crap for answers... so much stuff saying "u need to DL this" and go into ur computer settings for this and that.. etc.. for me if someone knows the answer, and can save u the time investigating it.. then why not? most of the time it takes maybe 5 minutes to help them out, instead of the 3 thinking of a witty reply ;)

well yeah but if you dont know how to forward ports then you also wont know alot of other things that are required to know to run a server.

maybe if he gave a better description like router name etc then it would be easier to help but ;\
