The so-desired April newsletter

Hi community,

After thinking a lot about it, i have been to the point where we need different challenge to gather people.

In one word, DAoC emulation is over. Now, we will focus on WoW emulation, because there is obviously no valuable server emulators, and also because there is cash to do if we succeed.

Although i don't really exclude we could also focus - for learning purpose - on T4C emulation, which is certainly a very pleasant engine, and got an extremly dynamic community. Anyway, this can be seen as a bit obsolete, but if there is cash to do.... why not.

My goal here is to first, being proud of the work done on DoL, and i'd like to thank everyone, from the past project admin Corillian SmallHorse, Nor, Etaew, IStandAloneToo, myself (ahaha i love to thank myself) to the occasionnal contributer in the well named contrib section.
I voluntary exclude Support team, because, we all know these guys are "not like everyone", to be polite. Oh, don't be shy, i'm sure everyone understand precisely what i mean.

Second, i hope you 'll all be ok to work on the new Dawn of Light (WoW/T4C emulation). It'll be interesting if Brink & Etaew could change the Logo and Website to match our new orientation. Thank you Webbers !

Last, here come my regrets. Despite the fact msdn is available, a lot don't even bookmarked it, so i assume we will be switching to another easier coding langage. I'm actually thinking about Brn.Fk, which, in regards of our actual code, seems totally suitable.

Storm and Portal will now be managed by Haji/Mirage. PM him for more informations.

Keep up the good work, guys, i hope you 'll be numerous to follow us ! (and don't forget to DONATE! - top right of the page)

Graveen.

I was going to suggest brainfuck, but im glad to see you've already got it.

Graveen you missed out the official apology:
On behalf of the Dawn of Light community, we would like to apologise to all the script kiddies who have given us grief through the years. You were right all along - us, too busy with real life jobs and hobbies just couldn't see what truth you had brought to the project. Your coding prowess was greater than we gave credit for.
And the Storm news

Due to unforeseen circumstances we cannot avoid, Storm will be taken down PERMANENTLY at 20:00 GMT on the first of April 2010. The notion was suggested some time ago that the server box would better be used as a doorstop, and after considerable debate on the internal staff forums we regret to announce that this is in fact the correct course of action for Dawn of Light: Storm.

It's been a great time, and we've made some good memories, but all good things must come to an end.

i think the repeated "because there is cash to do" sentence clearly showed where was standing the huge motivation you need for a brand new open source project

Just read this, awesome *high 5*, but Grav.. We all know the superior programming language is VB6 and that'd we'd be using that. Completely migrating to an Access DB too!
