Hello, I've been trying to use this start up guide-
http://www.dolserver.net/articles/?article=2 - Everything was going smoothly until I got to the final step. I started up dolserver.exe and did not change anything, Then it says go to the database tab.....I have no idea where to find this tab. the photo included is what i see when I start DOLserver.exe, What I need to know is, where do I put in my username and password and also, is that the username and password that I use to log into the server?

you are starting DOLSERVER.exe.config, not DOLSERVER.exe
You have to configure the database tab, it 'll not work.

I'm not sure I understand the problem? You need to run the dolconfig exe I think, but it's not clear to me either.

I'm not sure if Ephemeral was referring to my question about what program to run DOLSERVER.exe in because I realize it's an executable file but I have tried DOLSERVER.exe and DOLSERVER, there is no place for a username and password. I iwll check out dolconfig.exe

Ephemeral is an ass, ignore him.
DOlserver uses config files in the config directory to figure out what to run. If you run dolconfig it is supposed to set that up for you, I think, not sure. You should have a config directory off of your main directory, look in there for serverconfig.xml, which contains ports and login info for the database.

I assumed by that comment he made he didn't know how to run an exe, so yeah.

Sounds like you need to launch the DOLConfig.exe, the Database tab is there with the required config entries.
Depending on how you compiled, this'll be in either the Debug or Release folder.

I'm sorry I still don't understand. It's telling me that it can't find the database. Is there something wrong with the guide that I am using? The picture all the way at the top is the only thing that I see when I try step 7. Seems like there is nothing in the DOLServer.exe.config file. I ran dolconfig and I wasn't able to get it to open a database. I tried the SQL file that I downloaded and loaded into Heidi SQL but I couldn't get it to work.
http://www.dolserver.net/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=19271 That is the Database I am trying to use.

When I follow the instructions and I start dolserver.exe It brings up a box with tons of text and says starting server and checking database for updates. Does this mean it's up and running? I guess I'm having a problem locating the database. What do I put in for database name? dolpubV3.0 doesn't work.
