Cannot get into patchserver

I have 1.3 but theres a problem:
i start the patch server, then login, then game
i replaced the login.dat, update.dat, and camelot.exe with the one in the patchserver folder.
Then when I try to start camelot.exe it stops responding after it tries to connect to the patch server.

Any suggestions?

you're supposed to replace the camelot.exe that comes with the patchserver with your own. You change your update.dat to the one that comes with the patch server. That's all you should do as far as changing things. Are you actually managing to connect to it or no?

I just did what you told me but the same thing happens. Let me try to explain it in allitle more detail.
When I start the patcher, It Sticks to "Connecting to update server", And stops responding. But if I stop the patch server it says, "Cannont connect to patch server...", I think it may be connecting, it just freezes. my update.dat looks like this:
Code: Select all
Mythic Patch
127.0.0.1:2323/patchinfo.dat
127.0.0.1:2323/patchinfo.dat
127.0.0.1:2323/patchinfo.dat

The ports are right. I think there just is something not working. The patch server status window just says "Server Started" but as I said if i stopeed it, the patcher would immediatly say afterwards, "cannot connect to patch server..".
Any suggestions?

I got the same problem, but i use DOL with Win98SE. I read something about that DOL can´t be used with Win98 and older.

What OS are you using?

---
edit:
I tested it with 1.2b.
I´ll try 1.3b now.

---
edit2:
Still doesn´t work with 1.3b.

yes for the moment you must have a OS based on NT (2000,NT,XP)
but on a future release we will make a very important change into core code, (corillian and smallhorse work on it) and it's possible than you can use a win 98 but it's not sure

I can "play" while running the server in my pc
over the lan I have another pc with W98SE, I filled the .dat´s with my ip´s, when I try to connect from there I receive an error that "Could not connect" and at my pc in the Patch server window appears: "PATCHINFO request from 192.168.200.8(1052)"
how can I solve this ?
Thanks !

if you're trying to connect to the patchserver you do not edit your login.dat, that gets downloaded from the patchserver itself. You edit your update.dat so that it points at the patchserver you want to connect to. I've just released a utility, DOLClientMgr, that should help you out with this.
