While the subject title says it all, heres some background on whats going on, downloaded game patcher, tryed to run patcher and comp seems to sit there, though my HD does occasionlly blink, i dont think its running patcher though..... downloaded portal and it seemed to install fine, but wont complete updates, with 2 updates left it gives a no permission error, have tried running it in admin mode but does same thing, like admin mode is blocked, the vids for installing both game and patcher are both out of date and were no help except for where to download from... system i am running is more than capable of running, but not sure if i need older codecs for these to run correctly, running win 7, 64 bit. i did install a net4.0 when reading on servers, but i just want the client for now... ussually these things are more clear cut to deal with, but i feel like i need to be a programer to fix, and naturally i am not one....

I used to play DAOC back before EA bought Mythic, back when there were a number of servers, and i found this site looking up nostalgia and thought i might try to play the game again... any help would be apreciated, both for game side and portal, i think windows itself is the main issue, and i worry for those who have updated to win 10 as well

What's the DAoC Client version ?

only the us version is available and all i get is a 14.3 mb file from them that is supposed to patch game to my comp, it does not appear to even try, at this point i figured on playing on storm, the classic RvR style server...

as a note i did find an old EU patch file 28.5mb in size, but it doesnt download the game either..and im told it is out of date anyway..
i am about to try using my old disks as i have found them late last night, but they only cover to catacombs..no darkness falls or labryinth of the minotaur..

You have to connect the the live US servers in order to install the game completely, all you download is the core patcher.

already attempting that, seems email is only contact for that, and they are taking their time..... i'm guessing trying the original disks wont work for that, especially as Mythic technicly doesnt exist anymore...thanks to EA.....

ok, news on game side looks better, but not from the support section from EA/broadsword/mythic....the peeps they have dont know their stuff, had to change compatability mode to a windows 98/ME mode.... game is patching now, will see what portal does after game side done...

Ah, no need for that, you just have to run everything as admin so it has permission to write to folders.

ok, game side needed compat changed on my sysytem, wouldnt do anything even with admin mode, got it patched and portal is set to admin mode too, portal took updates but after selecting server "Storm:RvR" and putting in name password and hitting play, i get a "game dll not found" nothing more in error msg... did i miss something else?... i know game side is working as i played a bit last night to check it...but that was on thier servers not DoL's

Yes, you need to specify the directory the game is installed in.

Did you apply the rollback?

guess that answers the "did i miss something.."lol, next question is will this affect if i want to use EA's servers too, and wouldnt the game try to patch back up to current version?

You can have two (or more) DAoC install directories on your computer, using one for the DOL shards (with the rollback client) and the other one for the live servers
