Currently coding on a DAoC Zone Editor, and well, don't like writing much here now.

So here is a small preview of the edit (in this vid just raising, lowering and smoothing some terrain, nothing more)

(Mythic: We dont want to harm you, just use our creativity to do sth :P)

I am highly impressed.

Contact me on IRC if you're still looking for someone to do that .NIF converter, I'm getting things organized and getting coding done these days, so I could probably be enticed to work on it.

It was only a matter of time before someone was going to work with customized environments. Will these altered zones require any additional file downloads on the player's side, -or- is it basically like a vertex map that the client reads from the server upon loading the zone?

These are files which will need to be changed client side.

Luhz: Well, still need at least the boundings of the nifs for useful placement.

Rhed: As the zones (textures, boundings, hmaps, objects,..) are completly stored in the client, the client has to be modified. Already on creating a sort of plugin manager, but well, still everything pre-alpha

very nice work, metty *clap*. :)

you can use this tool for projects, all what to do, is:

1. create a page TERMS OF USE AGREEMENT

2. write in it:

No one from EA Mythic / Mythic, associated with EA Mythic / Mythic or any such affiliated company or anyone directed
by EA Mythic / Mythic or its Related companies is permitted to enter these web sites or view any
content contained within these sites at any time what so ever due to controversial reasons.

done :P

text = copy and paste ;)

But i think, if you use this maps for private only, mythic haves no problem with this.

Is it possible to generalize that terms of use to just say, no one from the human race is allowed to use this software?

As far as I know all client modifications in memory and in files are not legal. You can write what you want on the webpage it doesnt matter.
But I think its not so strictly. :)

i hope you're wrong. the possibilities with something like a zone editor are just amazing.

Well, the legality may be a problem. But i hope Mythic/EA is neat enough to permit those things :). If you only provide the Content you have done, not directly the client-ready data, it isn't really modifing the client? You modify the client yourself (the user) by clicking a button?

Anyway, atm. there may be another problem - In the Client there are only about ~20 free Zone IDs, any zoneID > 500 isn't accepted by the client

I really dont know how any coorporation like Mythic/EA/... would react.
I wish they will tolerate such things, but I gave you a hint to prevent you and this site for law restrictions.
Or in other words, just gave you this hint to remember it :)
