I Installed DoL 1.4.1 and applied the 1.1 database. But when I start my server and join all I see is 1 NPC that can teleport me, nothing else. I don't have ToA so hes about unnessesary. I can walk around and look at things, but i cant zone, sais something about that its not a valid jump/zone. It sais in the readme for the DB that there should be mobs and npc's, and that the zone's should work. I'm I doing something wrong?

Are the XML files from the dataloggin DB in your xml_db folder for DOL ?

I dont use the dataloggin DB myself, but If you can, get into the IRC room theres plenty of people there that do.

Yes. I have problems two.
Situation:
I used 1.4.1 with XML DB 1.0 and later ported to ODBC MySQL. This went fine. No Problems. :)
So in next step i imported the XML 1.1 to the MySQL Database.
After that everything seemed ok until i logged in.
I couldn't see any MOB or Merchant.
So i thought i made an error while importing XML 1.1 to MySQL and configured the server back to use XML instead.
WOHA the effekt is still the same. No MOB or Merchant.
The last thing i did, was restoring the original 1.0 XML DB i backed up before the first MySQL tests.
What do you think ? ... Effeckt is still the same.
(of course i used corresponding zone.ini and region.ini)

After all it seems to me that in the moment i applied the new data something went wrong with the server.
Since after that moment i could do everything. But the MOBs had vanished.

I got no errors from the gslog.

Any ideas?

Yup - started DOL with no databases in the xml_db folder, and fired it up :) My plans for DOL are only to provide a fun personal server, after all I'll be hosting it on a standard ADSL connection so could only support up to about 20 people.

Its a bit hard to plan something different without knowing the constraints of the emulator, eg. Ive redesigned Mithra to be a quest zone, users enter at the start and solve puzzles at each intersection to find the correct way to go (the wrong way will lead to death from high level traps/mobs) The issue i have here, if i cant set the agro range on a mob - then this is going to fall flat on its face.

Urizem: It could be a UDP problem that affects a small minority of our users. We're working squashing the bug.

I will also check out this problem, it could be that i was using the enwst CVS and thus it was working, if I find and corrections I will repost the files. Sorry for any confusion

Thanks @Corillian & Akira

So i will stay on XML DB until mobs are returned form vacation. After that i will gather them on MySQL again.

One thing: Before the update to DB 1.1 a had no problems with mobs or any other object AND i used ODBC MySQL for DB engine for weeks.
Are you shure that this might be an UDP problem?
I can't see whow a different mob database can affect the network engine of DOL (even if restored to a version that worked for weeks).

@Urizem: That is indeed sounding strange, very strange. Have you tried completely newly installing DOL in a different directory to be sure? If you do and it works then, you could compare the ini files to see if there are some settings that got changed and won't change back when you switch back the DB stuff ...

@Smallhorse:
I thought about but have not tried it yet.
Since you are the same opinion about the DB - NETWORK - UDP thing i will at last trie a complete new installation.

I'll keep you postet.

Thanks for help

To help me find the problem because I have not found it yet, upload it to Sql and just look through all the tables and make sure all the basics are included and nothing else. THis might be the reason why when I tried making my MobRandomWalk NPC table it did not work and scripts did not work either which spawned NPC's, although it did say successful when loading. This is very strange

First of all, I didn't even notice this but if you see a equiptemplate on any mob, get rid of it. Not quitre sure if thats the error but that could be part of the problem. Also when I tested my DB fi I didn't mention it before, I tested it out on the CVS, so that could be another reason for a fault if any.
