Credits Section

By popular demand, the Credits Page is back, with a list of various names I can remember from the project, granted, there are a lot, some may need to be removed, some may need to be added, but I need your help, the descriptions for a lot of them need to be filled in, so if you want to suggest something to me, please reply using this thread.

Am looking for:
- People I've missed.
- Descriptions of peoples contributions.

This is mostly for historical use, current people should already appear on the Team Page.

In other news, I've removed the pastebin we used on DOL, wasn't really used enough, wasn't working properly since we moved, and was being spammed, I'll write us our own one at some point.

Hi Folks!

I got this message when trying to log into the site...

It was not possible to convert your password when updating this bulletin board’s software. Please request a new password. If you continue to have problems please contact the Board Administrator.

So I set up this account. Feel free to dump the old ones, to free up resources.

Oh, and my DOL history:

Joined as a scripter (before there was a scripting system, ), worked on packet decoding, wrote some routines for the core, had a CVS collision with Duff (if I remember right  ), and never got around to writing any scripts until after I had left the project due to RL issues (RL ate me, twice  ).

If you're the same guy I'm thinking about, I remember you. I was just starting off with even looking at DOL (Shards alone) when you were here. Welcome.

Thank you Dinberg! :D

Hiyas Overdriven! Yup, I'm the same guy, around since release 1.0 (and yes I still have it  )... just older (not any wiser though  ).

mgX, I think the name you are looking for is Milcis, who joined the DOL core dev team in the summer of 2003 and left by the end of that rather busy year.

Hi guys I hope you are all well.

I am not trying to be smart here, but I believe I deserve some consideration for my past contributions.

The first thing is Utopia the server pack.
I have made a ready-to-go pack including the server already compiled, with with full DB (PNJ, Mobs, ...) and a couple of scripts available under the form of a nice pack.
This contribution alone helped to gather lots of new bloods in the community, such as Overdriven (Correct me if I am wrong) and others who were then able to have a shard up and running in a couple of minutes. This has helped them out a lot in term of understanding since the pack was also documented (Were are the scripts, databases...).
Several shards owners were not happy since "newbies" were able to start their own shard and took more and more place in the "market".
I can understand that, but anyway, I made this, with a few good people help, and nonetheless it helped out lots of people to start in DOL.

I have also made some significant contributions later on when I stopped the pack to run a shard on my own.
I release many scripts and DB, which are now commonly used by the major shards.
I published the full Catacomb DB, made by others and myself, but we actually released them all.
I also was the first one to publish the horse items DB, in full.
I also was the first one to publish all the Champions Weapons, in full.
I also published before anyone else, the full DB of the ML, with blank handlers, cause I had a few only, but nonetheless I published all the stuffs I had.
I also published the few ML handlers (3-4)I had done so far, nobody ever did that. They have been used later by some to continue the work.

October 2006:Universal drop system

October 2005: Utopia Item Factory
A tool to create items on the fly with GUI etc.
A nice beta tool that I have written with the help of my friend Dre and published.
And this has been taken over by somebody I don't remember the name.

I also published the "stats" scripts, to show player's status, can't find the reference though.
And many others that I can't recall.

Today I notice lots of those things are being used, and I pleased about that.

I have been a bitch sometimes, it was not justified, I am thinking about Etaew for example, but most of the time it was justified against the others.
We were all fighting against each other to have the most populated shard, and looking back I have been childish sometimes. But I am not the only one :-)

Many shard owners were not publishing their code/db, I was fighting against that and eventually I made things change a bit.
I was the only one to publish massive amount of scripts, databases, while others were only contributing slowly by fixing some bugs such as the Peps from Purga.
Many of them were keeping scripts for them self, while myself I contributed a lot. hopefully this has changed now.

I am not in the center or the reason of everything, Etaew, Smallhorse, Overdriven, Cisien, Alex_Dev, Purga devs, Deer_Hunter and the others have contributed a lot as well, but I believe I brought some significant contributions to the DOL community.

Thank you guys I miss you
